Description

“… After the transistor became available at a reasonable price in the mid 60’s, a number of quite cheap Japanese tape recorders entered the market. These machines were very popular in
Europe and Scandinavia until they were brutally wiped out when the Philips’
compact cassette came along.
A member of this portable family was the Aiwa TP-703, but others like SANYO and NATIONAL made similar models.  Of course the sound quality cannot be compared to the mains operated models.
But if this machine is running at 3¾ ips (by putting a sleeve on
the capstan) it’s not bad at all.
Like many other portable models this one can’t do fast forward but it’s a matter of keeping the mechanics as simple and lightweight as possible.
