Description

The TP-704 was a two-speed, two-track mono portable mains and battery recorder with a 500mW output and a 2¾ x 4¼ -inch speaker.
Piano key controls were provided rewind, stop, fast forward and play. A separate (red) button activated record (with the play key). A record level meter also served as a battery condition indicator during playback mode.
The TP-704 was a little more sophisticated than other AIWA models of the time. Not only did allow fast forwarding, but it also had a tape speed selector switch. Other cheaper models required a capstan sleeve to be fitted or removed to engage a second speed.
