Additional Details

Description

This was a 2-track stereo
record/playback plus 4-track 2-channel stereo playback deck (a 4-track
auto-reverse was also available.)
Akai’s GX (glass crystal) Ferrite heads were used. The core of the GX
head was made from ‘single crystal ferrite’ which was mounted and set,
with high precision, in glass. The equal friction characteristics of these
materials provided a smooth head surface that was resistant to dust and
they were guaranteed to be ‘wear-free’ for life.
This deck featured three separate motors and a dual capstan drive system.
Three speeds up to 15 ips were provided and up to 10½ inch could
be used.
