From a 1954 New Product Report:
“… The FME recorder is a moderately priced ($139.95) portable
with a 5 x 7 inch elliptical speaker that provides 4 watts of power under
5% distortion.
One of the features we liked is the quick stop lever, to be found at
the left of the control panel. This may be operated manually or with an
accessory foot switch.
Both 3¾ and 7½ ips speeds are provided. The speed change
is effected by turning the small knob at the top of the case. The recorder
is dual track.
