Description
A half-track, two speed (7½ & 3¾ ips) mono recorder with two heads (erase and record/playback) made for the UK and US market. It was identical (but for the colour scheme) to the TK 7 which appears to have been manufactured for the local (European) market only.
The drive mechanism consisted of an outer rotating cage split-phase induction motor and capstan with rubber pressure roller. The TK 8 had three speakers built in to the cabinet, one oval forward facing and two smaller round ones on either side. A three digit tape position indicator and an automatic stop mechanism
utilising metal sensing foils were incorporated into the design.
