Additional Details

Description

An
economy version of the 1400U with slightly lower specifications, the 1405U/H
was a solid state, 4 channel / 2 channel stereo tape deck with two tape
speeds, 3¾ and 7½ ips.
Other selling points included automatic stop,
flip-up head cover for easy cleaning, four VU meters, and a tape selector
switch for low-noise tapes.
Like the 1400U, a large rotary selector bar
was positioned on the deck’s right hand side for transport functions with
twin record buttons on the left.
A specially designed capstan with low deformation
characteristics and a retractable pinch roller were also incorporated
into the design.
