Description
A quarter-track, low cost
record/play tape transport with a precision balanced flywheel and laminated
record/payback heads.
The unit had two speeds (7½ and 3¾ ips) which were changeable
by a push-button. Quarter-track stereo and mono recording were possible
and a third head could be added as an optional extra ($16.95).
The KN-4001B stereo tape record/play amplifier pictured below the KN-4200
was the ideal companion for the deck, providing bias oscillator at 70kHz, a response of 20Hz to 20kHz and -45db hum & noise.
Two calibrated VU meters gave record and playback levels and clutch-type
concentric record-level controls for each channel completed the picture.
