Description
The Danish firm Lyrec have, through the years, developed tape recorders, transcription turntables, moving coil pickups and other accessories for sound recording and reproduction.
The TR-2 went into production in 1951 and was designed specially for the Danish Radio. There was an initial version called the TR-1. Later came a version with 10½ inch reels (TR-4) but otherwise the same. The AR 2 / TR 2 evolved from the AR 1 / TR 1 and were widely used in professional circles: The Danish Radio, the State Police, the Government and radio stations.
Radio Denmark used LYRECs back in the early 50’s as remote studio recorders. They had a station wagon equipped with two Lyrec TR-2 and AR-2 amplifiers. Later these station wagons were replaced with Chrysler automobiles, again equipped with Lyrecs.
The 3 knobs in the middle of the tape machine are (from top) – play, stop & record. Speed change (7½ – 15) and fast forward / rewind variospeed.
