This was a versatile mono half-track recorder, fully solid state and battery operated. It could take up to 5-inch spools and had two tape speeds: 3¾ & 1 7/8 ips.
National claimed that this was the world’s first completely automatic voice-operated portable tape recorder. Not only that, but it also provided automatic slide and film synchronization, automatic threading and remote control. Power source was from 6 x 1.5 U-2 type cells
