Description

Unlike some of the earlier Roberts machines, the 997 didn’t appear to have an exact equivalent Akai counterpart, however it does appear to be something of a hybrid between the M-6 & M-7.
It featured twin VU meters, stacked amplifiers, mute monitor speaker switch, horizontal or vertical operation, in-built speakers with deflectors, inputs for stereo
record changer and AM/FM stereo tuner as well as microphones, auto shut-off and three tape speeds (up to 15 ips).
Drive was via a single 24-slot high-torque hysteresis-synchronous motor with a dynamically-balanced rotor & flywheel.
Price when new was $449.95
