Description

A very early example of British recording technology, the Scophony-Baird was designed for vertical operation –  a feature that took another 20 years to catch on!
Finished in a bronze hammer tone enamel and beige leatherette case the recorder had a 10 watt output and an internal 6″ Goodmans speaker.
Two 4-pole Collaro motors were used. one for play and one for rewind.
The machine was full-track mono and had a single speed of 7½ ips, giving a total of 30 minutes recording time on a standard tape.
