The Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo 401 was released in 1954, one year before they would rebrand using the name Sony.
The 401 has a much more consumer oriented appearance and was probably a reasonably good sounding machine in its day. A few of these can be found, from time to time, for sale in Japan in the second and market.
