Description

Designed and marketed with the ‘Tape-sponder’ in mind, this little two-speed mono half-track allowed up to 2 hours recording on a 3¾” reel.
It featured solid state circuitry, automatic recording volume (no level
meter) and capstan drive.
An amusing advertising gimmick in the 1966 Lafayette Electronics Catalogue
suggested that a ‘matched pair’ (keep one and send one to your ‘Tape-Mate’)
could make your letters ‘come alive’.
Weighing only 4 lbs (2.3 kg) and measuring 8 x 4 x 7½ inches (203
x 102 x 191 mm) this was avery ‘cheap and cheerful’ little unit, not to
be seriously used for recording music.
