Description

The Stancil Hoffman R5 We found in the audio tape recorder directory 1960- 1961 with a huge price of $16600 for the complete tape recorder. Pictured here is the transport which appears to be very well-built. A frequency response of 50- 15,000 Hz At 15 IPS would not have been particularly impressive even in 1960. It had mechanical brakes, hysteresis direct drive motor, Variable speed fast forward and rewind and a weight of 100 pounds for the complete package including preamplifier.
