Description

The information below comes from UK collector Stuart Blacklock who, in turn, obtained it from the original owner. It is therefore anecdotal and cannot be confirmed.
The Perfectone was built for professional film and broadcast use, and
the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) used them to synchronise with
cameras. At the front of the unit (next to the VU meter), is a pilot indicator,
this would show white as the camera and tape ‘synched’. If the speed changed
on the camera, the speed of the tape also changed.

Apparently, this machine was quite a serious competitor to NAGRA, who,
seeing a potential threat to its own machines, bought out Perfectone and
quickly got rid of the name, although, many of the functions of this recorder
can be found in the early Nagras.
