Description
In late 1962, Garrard brought out its battery portable version of the Bichette deck. Like its predecessor, the battery deck could accommodate Garrard’s magazine cartridge or conventional 4″ spools and the head block was identical to the earlier Bichette’s.
This machine featured two speeds, 3¾ and 1ips, the speed selector was hidden when the cartridge was in place and therefore had to be selected before the cartridge was inserted. And although only a single motor was used compared to the Bichette’s two motors, the battery deck did have a fast rewind capability.
Powered by six U2 (‘D’ cell) 1.5V batteries, a playing time of 50 hours was claimed.
