Description
The TC 540 was a compact
quarter-track stereo recorder with three speeds, two heads and a single
motor.
This recorder featured Sony’s new XL-4 ‘Quadradial’ stereo sound system
– a fancy way of saying it had four speakers! Two 4″ x 8″ woofers
were built into the sides of the cabinet and the two halves of the detachable
lid contained a 4″ tweeter each.
Other features included sound-on-sound, 20 watts of dynamic music power,
scrape flutter filter, vertical or horizontal operation, pause control,
‘inching’ and parallel track replay. Price in 1969 including 2 Sony F-96
